Smørrebrød


With some left overs from the Christmas feast, learning from the Danish culture, these ingredients are turned into beautiful Danish open face sandwich - smørrebrød (literally translated as buttered bread) with additions of some typical smørrebrød toppings. The bread I used is rye bread, a small loaf lasts us quite a few rounds because they are fulfilling.

Selection#1: Shrimp egg and 'caviar' sandwich with mayo dressing

Selection#2: Lever paté and bacon sandwich, I like my paté preheated in the oven

Selection#3: Roast ham slices with thyme, salad and thin spread of mustard

Selection#4: Cream cheese and cucumber sandwich

Selection#5: Ham and cucumber sandwich

Selection#6: Lever paté with cucumber, serve cold

Selection#7: Scrambled egg and bacon

There's no particular recipe for any of the above, just add toppings that you feel like and there's no lack of reference from the Internet on the typical selections :)
